🧄🧀 Cheesy Garlic Focaccia

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp sugar

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)

  • ¼ cup olive oil (plus more for drizzling)

  • 6–8 garlic cloves, thinly sliced or minced

  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, fontina, or a mix)

  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or oregano), chopped

  • Flaky salt for topping

Directions:

  1. Activate Yeast

    • In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Make Dough

    • Stir in flour, salt, and 2 tbsp olive oil. Mix until a sticky dough forms.

    • Knead on a floured surface (or with a dough hook) for 5–7 minutes, until smooth.

  3. First Rise

    • Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1 ½ hours, until doubled.

  4. Prepare Pan

    • Grease a 9x13 baking dish (or sheet pan) with 2 tbsp olive oil.

    • Transfer dough to the pan, pressing to spread it out. Rest 5 minutes if it resists stretching.

  5. Second Rise

    • Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes.

  6. Add Toppings

    • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

    • Dimple the dough with fingers.

    • Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle garlic evenly, add shredded cheese, herbs, and a pinch of flaky salt.

  7. Bake

    • Bake 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and golden, and crust is crisp.

    • Let cool slightly before slicing.

Result: Cheesy, garlicky, herb-forward bread with a soft, fluffy interior and crisp, golden crust—perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side with soups and salads.
