Garlic Scapes

Grill Garlic Scapes

You’ll need:

  • 15-20 garlic scapes

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 T oil

  • 1/4 tsp paprika

  • black pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Prepare the scapes by washing them and cutting off any woody or hard parts off the stalk.

  2. Place in a large bowl and toss with the oil, salt, paprika, and pepper.

  3. Place the scapes in a cast-iron pan. Place on the grill and cook until tender. About 6-10 minutes.

Pickled Garlic Scape- Refridgerator

You’ll need:

  • 1 tsp dill seeds

  • 1 lb garlic scapes

  • 1 c water

  • 1 cup distilled vinegar

  • 1 T salt

  • 1 T sugar

    Directions:

  1. Wash and sanitize a pint canning jar.

  2. Place the dill seeds in the jar.

  3. Add the garlic scapes into the jar, you will have to curl them. You could also cut them into bit size pieces. You can leave the tips on.

  4. Stir together water, vinegar, salt, and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the salt and sugar are dissolved and the mixture starts to boil (8-12 minutes)

  5. Pour the hot brine over the scapes int he jar. Leave 1/2 inch of headspace at the top of the jar.

  6. Screw on the lid and let the jar sit, undisturbed, until totally cooled. Store in the fridge for up to 1 month.
